Chantal Gagnon (she/her)

Member of the Executive Committee, responsible for economic development and the green economy, and Mayor of the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, Ville de Montréal

Chantal Gagnon is an experienced executive and dedicated Montreal municipal official, currently serving as Mayor of the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough and as a member of the City of Montreal's Executive Committee, responsible for economic development and the green economy.

Elected as Borough Mayor in the November 2, 2025 municipal elections under the Ensemble Montréal banner, she earned the trust of residents by championing a vision centered on proximity, efficient municipal services, and improving quality of life in local neighborhoods.

Before entering municipal politics, Chantal Gagnon built a solid career in management and the community sector. Notably, she served as Executive Director of the Service d’aide et de référencement Aîné d’Anjou (SARA d’Anjou) from 2018 to 2025, where she drove the growth and influence of this organization dedicated to helping seniors remain in their homes. Under her leadership, the organization developed innovative services, strengthened institutional partnerships, and mobilized a vast network of volunteers.

In parallel, she diversified her professional experience by founding her own collection agency and working for over fifteen years as a paralegal for recognized institutions and firms, allowing her to develop sharp analytical rigor as well as expertise in governance and complex project management.

Deeply involved in her community, Chantal Gagnon has also stood out through her service on several boards of directors, notably at the Caisse Desjardins Mercier-Est–Anjou, where she chaired the governance and ethics committee. She has also contributed to important social causes, including the protection of women and children, by chairing the Maison d’hébergement d’Anjou shelter.

On the academic front, she holds a Graduate Diploma (DESS) in Community Economic Development, along with training in governance and leadership, in addition to a diploma in paralegal studies. As a Certified Administrator, she is recognized for her ability to mobilize community stakeholders around collaborative and structuring projects.

Her commitment has been recognized on several occasions, notably with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012) and the King Charles III Coronation Medal (2024), highlighting her exceptional contribution to the community.
